Drive and distortion
Effects reference
The effects below provide different clipping and tone-control arrangements. Model names help identify the choice in the drawer; they do not promise an exact match to every revision of a physical pedal.
| Effect | Controls | Starting point |
|---|---|---|
| TLA800 Preamp | Volume | Begin low and raise Volume while checking the following amp or output stage. |
| A-Clipper | Drive, Level, Tone | Start with low Drive and central Tone; use Level to match bypass. |
| B-Boom | Drive, Gain | Raise Drive gradually, then balance Gain against the bypassed sound. |
| Astrofuzz | Attack, Tone, Volume | Try low Attack, central Tone and a matched Volume for a restrained starting texture. |
| Bit-Crusher | Bit Down, Downsampling, Gain, Level | Begin with mild bit/sample reduction and low Gain; increase one reduction control at a time. |
| Cover-D | Bass, Treble, Volume, Mix | Start with a modest Mix and central tone controls, then balance Volume. |
| Trinity Screamer | Drive, Level, Tone | Use low Drive, central Tone and a slight Level lift ahead of an amp stage. |
| CST-BT1 | Attack, Level, Tone, Mix | Keep Mix modest while exploring Attack, then adjust Tone and Level. |
| Distortion MK2 | High Freq, Freq, Gain, Mix | Start with low Gain and Mix; tune the two frequency controls to place the distortion in the mix. |
| El-Distortion | Drive | Raise Drive from low until the desired saturation appears; balance the surrounding chain's level. |
| Distortion Plus | Volume, Drive | Choose a moderate Drive and set Volume to match bypass. |
| Thick Distortion | Gain, Thickness, Volume | Start with low Gain and Thickness, increase Thickness by ear, then balance Volume. |
